Artist/Genre/Design nd genal influence research

I have researched magazine with the same target audience and aim. the type of artist I am to have model for my front cover and double page spread is very important to draw in the correct audience for my product. By looking at these magazine with the same intentions, what artist they have featuring and what artist have a mature feel, it will help me choose and style my model...

I have looked for current artist that have changed the pop industry and brought in an older audience by taking risks and doing more outrageous things.

Miley Cyrus went from the young teen Disney star on the front cover of all the young teen pop magazines, yet is a prime example of artist reforming themselves and maturing.









In effort to change her current image of the teen role model with the perfect good girls image she shocked the world with drastic hair style change.
After cutting of her locks Miley didn't stop their; she threw a bunch of wild videos our way and did some pretty outrageous things.







One of those was he performance at the VMA's. She came in next to nothing shocking the audience. These things that she has done express her new maturity and target an older audience, moving her away for pop magazines aimed at young children. Her new genre would be classed as pop/R&B which is a huge influence toward my chosen genre as I have based my magazine on her as an influence a lot.

My Audience

My Idea of the audience

The genre of my magazine is pop/R&B, and I am taking a more mature spin on the stereotypical 'childish pop' format. The audience that I shall be targeting through my piece are mainly female within the age bracket of 16-35 years old who are a fan of the latest pop music by the likes of Rihanna. The reason to these been my target audience is that they are most likely to be interested in the themes of this genre and fans of their music, in which I will inform them of all the latest updates the charts and on the newest releases.

There is a large audience range who enjoy this styles and genre of music as they are shown through the charts massively and publicised a lot. The audience of this type of magazine will be interested in all the lates6 low-downs of the many artists personal lives as well as public lives, which shall be given in my magazine making them want to purchase this in particular. Majority of the targeted audience will be intrigued in the fashion styles of these artists and the latest high-street fashions influence by these which shall be another key attribute to my magazine.

As well as what is featured within my magazine being a reason for my specific audience, the layout is an attribute that is the reason for the target age group. The layout will be formal giving off a professional style as their will be no scattered images or clashing colour schemes. Therefore not attracting children but instead my target audience.

I shall we using influences of mine in my own piece of work, and one of them being a more wild fashion sense/costume ideas.

A wide range of make-up products shall be used in my photo-shoot to make them look glamorous

and fit with the codes and conventions of the beauty and bold and sometimes outrageous looks they go for in these magazines.

The outfit the model for my front cover shall be wearing for the shoot. 

The foot wear for the model of the shoot to wear.

The cover this Billboard magazine shows a sense of maturity and its all very organised with a clean layout unlike pop aimed at young teenagers. This is the look I was to replicate in my own way when making my magazine cover.

I have been particularly influence by artists such Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Lady Gaga and the way in which they portray themselves in the music industry. Their fashion choices stand and they are know for their crazy costume, ideas and performances. This is an aspect of their cover they have done that I shall be using in my own magazine cover and spread. They are all apart of the pop and R&B genre get are targeting themselves to a more mature audience and age categories appose to a younger and more childish group. The influential magazine cover that have inspired me also have more of a sophisticated look to them are targeting and older audience, with clean cut and organised layout using a more fixed colour scheme instead a mixture of primary colours and scattered images.

The Simple layout of this short magazine name is something that i am going to use on my design and am inspired by this particular. The idea of a simple colour scheme stands out in its own way by being so plain and fresh which is an aspect i am going to be including for my magazine to give it more of a mature look. 

My Chosen Genre

I have come to the decision of my chosen genre, which is pop/R&B, due to being a fan of this particular genre myself so I have a fair amount of knowledge surrounding this already. I buy a lot of magazines within the pop and R&B genre which is an advantage of me doing this for my own magazine design as I am familiar with ones already on the market and have many idea from a large variety of them. I have picked up on the typical conventions used within this genre which will help me with my own work as  can include them to make a successful magazine. As well as this I have narrow down the style I would like to reflect in my own work due to influences of the magazines I have read.

This particular music genre is published throughout the charts in particular, meaning it is one of the most recognised choice of genre reaching out to a large audience. Due to this the artist are very popular, and with this and the fact I am a fan of this genre, I have a very established idea of the look and style that the typical artists have in the pop and R&B industry – which will help me when it comes to props and costume and also casting for my shoot.

Casting is another reason pop/R&B is my chosen genre as I have a number of people in mind who would fit the role of my main artist to star on the cover and double page spread. And as it is important for my magazine to be realistic its necessary I choose someone with the typical artists look.
